I was in horrible back labor for 32 hours at home and not progressingso we ended up going to the hospital and getting an epidural. So needless to say we were very apprehensive to try a natural childbirth again. Laura is a gift to women. I first met Laura 27 weeks into my sixth pregnancy. I was referred to her because I was searching for a prenatal home birth provider who could offer support for a difficult and complicated pregnancy. I had strong morning sickness, low iron issues, and Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction when I found her. Right away, she gently put me to work with my health and nutrition to increase my iron levels, and to help me find relief for the pain I felt with PSD. At times I felt that I might be a 'needy' patient, but Laura never made me feel that way once. She listened to my concerns on a level that was intuitive, and was always able to come back with answers and support that were very healing for me on more than just a physical level. I have very quick deliveries, so I was nervous that she wouldn't be able to make it in time when I went into labor, since we live an hour and 15 minutes away from her. But her knowledge of women's care, (which is SO MUCH MORE than prenatal care) was always worth more than gold to me. She consistently answered my questions as quickly as possible, and always provided a very healing and loving atmosphere for me and my family. As my delivery date drew nearer, she spoke with us about what delivery would be like, as we had imagined that my husband would participate in a water birth with me, and catch our baby. She walked us through each step, and when she left our home that day we felt comfort in knowing that we were prepared and ready. That very night, I went into labor, but I didn't show strong, consistent labor signs until 40 minutes before I had my baby. I woke my husband who called Laura, and she started on her way. Our delivery went exactly how Laura described to us. Our son was born into my husband's hands, and it has been one of our top moments in our marriage. I know that Laura was inspired to coach us and guide us at our last home visit with her. Our baby was born so quickly that Laura wasn't able to make it in time, but she stayed on the phone with my husband, and calmly taught him everything he needed to do to deliver our son. For us, it has been the most wonderful, soul healing birth we've had. I can't say enough about the support we received from Laura. I am now four months postpartum, and I am still implementing the nutrition guidelines she gave to me, and I feel stronger than ever. Laura has blessed my life phenomenally. I can't express my love for her enough. I am so grateful that I was led to her. Before I found her I was in so much pain and fear, but she saw me, who I am as a woman and mother, and supported that. She helped me find my strength to overcome difficulties, she prayed for me, researched for me, and used her own inner knowledge and intuition to bless me. It is the greatest gift I was given.
